Twixt and tween?
The hummingbirds usually visit the salvia on my balcony many times a day. If I am still they will fly very very close but I have not seen one for a couple of days even though there is a new crop of bright red blooms. I suspect that they are gone for the season. I have a large plot in the community gardens too. It has been a difficult year with a midseason flood followed by hordes of mosquitos but it hasn’t been too chill at night and my garden is lovely. A few end of season scars but nigh spectacular and the late summer light can be low and thick. Would you like to see? We apparently have at least a week of decent weather yet. I’ll tell you where it is and if you’re the cautious type you can reconnoiter before you write me. Even the possibility of a “ chance” meeting of a sort if Im working there. Or just write and maybe Ill give you a tour…
PS. If my garden isn't reassuring enough there are always my glowing AirBnB reviews. *grin*
The first time I posted on this site I said rather a lot about myself. For this version Im going to keep it a bit shorter though I might share my first essay if you ask. In spite of the fact that my mother takes everything literally and doesn’t recognise jokes I can be fairly funny. I still dance though only very rarely with other people. I aspire to abandon but actually am rather reserved. I meditate regularly but only started last year. I like to cook and love to dine out, something which is notably more fun with two….though I have to say that one of my great pleasures is a good book while I eat somewhere comfortable. Someone once told me, with approval, that is, that Im intellectual but not “an intellectual” Language and books, gardening, food…..what else….oh yes, travel; I too, often go somewhere in the winter. Im not sure what it would be like to live somewhere where you could garden all year round but the extra time on my hands in winter and the cold weather suits my inclination to travel. I am working on learning Spanish and have made a couple of trips to Spain recently and I imagine Mexico and Latin America will be future destinations. I have one more trip planned, this fall or next, a long one to New Zealand. Planned I say but “dreaming of” might be a better verb because ideally I would leave in six weeks or so but I have no tickets or reservations. Want to go to New Zealand?
As I mentioned, this is the second time Ive posted on Seven Days. The first time was……difficult. I had more responses than I knew what to with, had no idea how to prioritise, might have given up on one person too soon and might have missed out on another by not answering fast enough. The whole thing pained me, because, aside from the goal of finding someone….lover or friend, I very much value kindness and civility. I ask for a certain understanding as someone who has very little experience dating. How to recognise on one date, let alone from a single note that you might be really simpatico rather than….eh *grin* we’ll see. It doesnt have to be long but I suggest that if you choose to write me, you tell me why you wrote ME or something about yourself. Ask me something personal, vent, rhapsodise, compliment or reveal. This time at least I suppose I can flee the country to New Zealand if it doesn’t go well. *smile*
I tend to favor smart and slim/fit but beyond that….at this point, we have all lived long lives and formed tastes and habits and Im not looking for a clone of myself. Differences…..adjustments, surprises!
These are twixt and tween times, lingering beauty and incipient change, life a succession of improbabilites……if you read this months later and wonder at my timing….well…you may not know where I am but you’ll have some idea where I’ve been.
My garden is in the Tommy Thompson community gardens in the Intervale. Pass Gardeners supply . You will pass many parking areas on the right and near the very end of the straight road you will find a left where, as you enter there is a parking area and a blue porta potty. Park there and walk to the centre aisle and take a right so you are walking in the same direction as you drove down the road in. My garden plot is four or five plots after you make that right or, 4 from the northern end of the garden. I dont think you will have any trouble telling which it is.
