World enough
I've recently relocated here to be closer to my family. And friends; I've visited often over the decades, but finally reached the point where I could make the move. My interests are broad and diverse. In the winter, ice skating, curling, hiking, and snowshoeing - you can check them out from the library. Reading - there's not much better than a good book and a cup of coffee or two as the sun rises. Or sets.
In the summer, I'm often on my sailboat. I'll be bringing her up to Champlain this spring. I bought her up in Gaspe, spent several summers bringing her down around Nova Scotia to Maine, and then down to her current home on the Hudson. I'm looking forward to sailing without fog, tides, granite reefs, or sharks lurking about when you dive off the bow.
I've been told I'm a pretty good cook, and I do enjoy it. Nothing fancy - the menu depends on what looks fresh & good at the market. But cooking for one can be dull; much better to have someine to share it with.
Music is a big part of my life, for obvious reasons. And art - one of my favorite paintings, by Turner, is at the Clark (a seascape, needless to say).
There's more than enough to keep me occupied; lots to explore in what is a truly beautiful place. I've travelled a lot, but these days am more of a dirt-road kind of guy; go slow, get lost, ride my bike rather than get on a plane. I hope to plant a garden this spring - basil and tomatoes, thyme and oregano, just because it smells so good in the hot summer breeze.
This all sounds not very exciting. But considering the increasingly incomprehensible state of the world these days, that suits me just fine.
Three things that I want from my ideal mate are... Two, actually: a woman of heart and mind.
What is the one thing that you love that everybody else hates? Bubba Ho-Tep
It's karaoke night and I'm singing... I'm not: people pay me not to sing. Or play the violin. It makes small chidren cry and grownups throw food.
I consider myself an open-minded person, but my deal breakers are Trumpers and Conspiracy right wing nut jobs
