Embarking On A New Adventure

I like strong, intelligent women who read books and know something about adventure and risk.

Birdsong, big old trees and friends are at the center of my life these days. I have a truck camper, and in the winter I like to travel around the south -- the Florida Keys, the little fishing villages off the beaten track, Ocean Springs Mississippi. This year I only left for a month though. I met a friend in New Mexico to hike in the Gila National Forest and then drove him to California.

Anyway, I have a home deep in a wildlife refuge in the Adirondacks about an hour or so from Burlington. I think I'll sell it. I've been a writer for thirty years, and published a number of books on diverse subjects: nature, creativity, finance. I've worked on Wall Street and fought forest fires in northern Canada. I have a huge range of interests but these days am mostly focused in my work on the financial markets. And I was a successful nature artist for twenty-five or so years, publishing journals of my art and writing. I'm always evolving, always in the process of growing, learning, making mistakes, experimenting. I've experienced a lot of failure and success in my short life.

Being a good person is important to me. Nature is at the center of my life, and I need to be out wandering around big trees at least a couple of times a week to feel centered and in tune with myself. Music, particularly melodic jazz, and books, lots and lots of books, are important to me. I don't have many friends but the few I have are important to me. They are diverse -- a wilderness protection activist, a CEO of a major company, a university professor, a woman who runs a prominent classical music school.

I'm thinking now about writing another book -- a travelogue of watercolors, interviews and reflections of interviews of people who are imagining and creating the completely different world we are all about to enter: self-driving cars, artificial intelligence, semi-conductors smaller than a blood cell. We are all on the cusp of a completely new and different world. Change fascinates me.

Fill It

On a Saturday night you will most likely find me reading, watching a movie, having a drink in a bar

I couldn't live without books, music
