Happy, grounded, optimistic
Helplessly happy and optimistic, grounded, financially independent, active, and flourishing despite the universe throwing tragic curveballs at me. Widowed way too early. Turns out I have a superhuman resilience gene. I spend zero time complaining, but rather focus on what’s next and how to keep growing.
What lights me up? I’ve always ridden bikes, not in a hard-core or competitive way, just more as a way to breathe in the real world. I’m always “just one bike ride away from a better mood.” I find myself at this point with four pedal-powered bikes, and one sleek black motorcycle.
Also — friends. I have a wide circle of beloved people, and I spend a fair amount of time with them. I’m the person in our friend group who throws the parties. I love getting people together. Friends get us through the really hard stuff.
Also — making things. I’m a thrower of pots, a knitter of hats, and I make pretty great pies. I like making useful, beautiful, or delicious things and giving them to appreciative people.
I love creating a beautiful, cozy home and gardens. I’m a reader and always have two or more books going. I like people who are curious about the world and engage with wide-ranging ideas.
My late husband used to joke that there should be a dating site just for people with good credit scores. Financial responsibility is a priority for me.
Looking forward to hearing what lights you up.
Two of the most important people in my life were my grandparents, a small town Vermont librarian/Latin teacher and mail carrier. They taught me pretty much everything I needed to know.
My feeling about men is summed up by Mary Louise Parker in her essay for Esquire magazine, “A Thank-You Note to Men.”
And, extra points if you heat with wood. I love chopping kindling.
I consider myself an open-minded person, but my deal breakers are MAGA and being talked at endlessly.
On a Saturday night you will most likely find me getting together with friends, or at the pottery studio
I couldn't live without fresh air
The first section I turn to in Seven Days is I pretty much read the whole paper
My ideal partner would be in the 55 to 65 age range.
The quickest way to my heart is sincerity, eye contact, and listening well. The quickest way to my bed is quiet whispering in my ear And in the morning, I like my eggs cooked sunny side up with sweet pepper jam
